M-TAP
Privacy
Last updated 3 September 2026
M-TAP is playable start to finish without an account, without a network, and without sending us anything. Most of what follows only applies if you choose to connect an account.
Playing without an account
Your progress — levels, times, stars, records, settings — is kept on your own device. Nothing about it is sent anywhere. Deleting the app deletes it.
If you connect an account
You can sign in with Apple, Google or Game Center so your progress follows you to another device. When you do, we store:
- The identifier your provider gives us — the opaque subject id, not your email address and not your name. We do not ask your provider for either.
- A copy of your save, compressed. It is stored as an opaque blob; our server never reads inside it. It contains what the game contains — levels, times, records, a picture of a grid you played — and nothing about you.
- A session, so you are not asked to sign in every time. We store a one-way hash of the session token, never the token itself, so this table leaking would not be a set of live credentials.
- For Sign in with Apple only, a refresh token. It exists for exactly one purpose: Apple requires that deleting your account also revokes their grant, and that revocation needs this token. It is never used for anything else.
Anonymous usage data
The game reports how it is being played — a level attempted, a run ended, a power used, a purchase made — so we can tell which levels are too hard and which parts nobody reaches. Each report carries a random identifier made on your device the first time the app runs.
That identifier is never joined to your account, by design rather than by policy: it is stored separately from the account system and nothing in the code connects the two. Clearing the app's data or reinstalling produces a new one.
Purchases
M-TAP offers one optional purchase. It is handled entirely by Apple. We never see your card, your billing address, or your Apple Account. We are told only that a purchase was made, so the app can unlock what you bought.
Who else sees it
Nobody. We do not sell, rent or share your data, and there is no advertising, no analytics SDK and no third-party tracker in the app. The only companies involved are the ones you already chose — Apple or Google for sign-in and payment — and the hosting provider that runs our own server.
Deleting your account
There is a delete button in the app, under Settings. It removes your player record and everything hanging off it — every sign-in method, every session and your saved game — and, if you signed in with Apple, revokes Apple's grant at the same time. It is immediate and it is not recoverable.
Deleting your account does not touch the copy on your own device, which is yours; deleting the app removes that.
Children
M-TAP is a maths game and children are welcome to play it. It is designed to need no account at all, which is the version we would encourage for a child. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has connected an account, write to us and we will delete it.
Changes
If this policy changes we will update the date at the top. Material changes to what we collect will be said in the app as well as here.
